About Gemma Louise Nangle

Writing has never been optional for Gemma. Like eating and breathing, it’s something that has been integral to her existence since the age of 6. Since then, naturally her writing style has flourished and her writing is strongly influenced by many of the fantasy series that she read as a child including, but not limited to, series such as JK Rowling's 'Harry Potter', Jenny Nimmo's 'Charlie Bone', and Rick Riordan's 'Percy Jackson'.

Although her genre of choice for longer projects is fantasy, she also enjoys writing short stories across a variety of different genres and has even written some songs and poems.

She grew up in a small village in the South of England called Shepperton but has since moved to Badalona, a city in the region of Barcelona and enjoys writing on the beach and also in the cafes lining the Rambla. Since moving to Spain she has worked as a teacher and her experiences have influenced much of her work.

She also studied a BA in Modern Languages (French, Italian, and Russian) at the University of Birmingham and graduated with a 2:1 and a distinction in spoken Italian. She uses her knowledge of different languages frequently in her work to create new languages.
